The match officials for Celtic’s League Cup quarter-final clash at Rangers have been confirmed.
Celtic will have no supporters at Ibrox after Rangers offered a mere 300, with the Hoops rejecting that offer.
It was later confirmed that there will be no away fans at any of the fixtures whatsoever this season. That follows from the events that occurred at Ibrox in last season’s Scottish Cup quarter-final, with the SFA announcing that both clubs will play their next Scottish Cup home games behind closed doors.
The upcoming fixture comes during a busy schedule for Martin O’Neill’s side. They host Rangers the following week in the first Premiership encounter of the new campaign.
In between those two domestic matches, however, the Hoops begin their 26/27 Europa League journey at home to Ferencváros.
The match officials for the Ibrox League Cup clash are as follows (via Scottish FA): Nick Walsh is the referee, assisted by Frank Connor and Daniel McFarlane; Kevin Clancy is the fourth official.
Andrew Dallas is in charge of VAR and will be assisted by Steven McLean.
Before attention turns to Ibrox, O’Neill prepares for Celtic’s trip to face St Johnstone on Wednesday night.
Kasper Hogh and Kieran Tierney returned to training and could take part in that match, which will be shown live on Sky Sports. A welcome return for the duo, who will bolster the options ahead of a packed couple of weeks.
After Wednesday’s game, full focus will be on League Cup duty. With the match officials locked in, though, supporters will already have one eye on the first Glasgow derby of the season.
