Celtic Star’s Bizarre Pre-Match Ritual Baffles Sky Sports Pundits Before St Johnstone Win

Colby Donovan has thrust himself straight into Martin O’Neill’s plans ahead of every Celtic clash this season.

The promising full-back has deputised impressively for the injured Alistair Johnston and has put in some strong performances for the club as he looks to retain his spot in the starting XI.

As a boyhood Hoops fan, the 20-year-old likely will not take much to get psyched up before any match in his beloved green and white. And yet, before his side’s narrow 1-0 victory over St Johnstone on Wednesday evening, the defender was captured by the Sky Sports cameras seemingly preparing himself for battle.

The right-sided player stood behind captain Callum McGregor and debuting goalkeeper Sam Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in the tunnel before the two sides took to the field in the 8pm kick-off.

And he spent time barging the wall with both shoulders as he looked to get himself going for the action that would ultimately keep Celts top of the Premiership table and unbeaten with 18 points from a possible 18.

The moment was spotted by pundit Kris Boyd in the Sky studios and the former Kilmarnock and Portland Timbers forward pointed out how baffling he felt it was

The retired striker brought host Eilidh Barbour into the conversation, chuckling: “You missed that there, Eilidh. I am not quite sure what Colby Donovan has been doing.

“He’s barging into that wall there, you missed it.

“It’ll be flying about on social media later but I’m not quite sure what he was doing.”

It was a moment of private anticipation for Donovan before 90 minutes of sprints and energy useage, so the young Scotland hopeful can rest assured that no Celtic supporter would have been confused by his warm up.
