Arne Engels Delivers Brilliant Tribute to Celtic Supporters

Arne Engels has delivered a classy tribute to Celtic and the supporters on Instagram after his move to West Ham was officially confirmed.

Having only been at Celtic for just under two years, the Hoops have clearly left a lasting impression on the Belgian.

After playing a crucial role in league and cup doubles during his two seasons, Engels leaves Celtic with everyone’s best wishes.

Engels had been plagued by transfer speculation since the turn of the year, but you would have been forgiven for not noticing. He remained the consummate professional throughout, and that class was reflected in his Instagram post on Saturday night.

The Belgian midfielder added a physicality and athleticism rarely seen at Celtic in recent years. Signed for a then club-record fee of £11 million in 2024, Engels lived up to the hype and has now earned Celtic around double that amount with his £22 million move to West Ham.

Celtic now face the challenge of replacing Engels, but his final game for the Hoops ended with an assist for Kasper Høgh’s first goal for the club.

Engels was a divisive figure at times, with some questioning his lack of goals, but his character helped him overcome the doubters. He fought his way back into the team whenever he was benched and formed a formidable partnership alongside Callum McGregor.

That will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression, just as Celtic and the support clearly have on Engels.
