Celtic got away with one… not a sentence you’d think to say after the humiliating defeat at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon, but it’s true.
The Hoops could easily have been reduced to 10 men during the encounter and no one could have any complaints if Nick Walsh had flashed his red card.
It was far from a good performance from the referee, not an excuse Celtic can even think of using. Celtic were well beaten, outthought, outfought and outclassed. Something that should never happen against a Derek McInnes team that, up until yesterday, had been struggling.
But it could’ve been a lot worse for the Hoops. Mika Baur can count himself lucky that he didn’t receive his marching orders after he went studs up into the shin of Ryan Naderi.
It was a poor challenge and one that could’ve seriously injured the opponent.
Walsh didn’t cover himself in glory, with him getting several other calls wrong, but this one actually warranted a red card, claim former referees.
