Celtic Could Land Summer Target for Free

Celtic-linked winger Oskar Fallenius has opened up on his future as he approaches the end of his contract with Djurgarden.

The 24-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Celtic, with reports in Sweden claiming the Hoops have kept tabs on him over the past year.

Fallenius remained with Djurgarden beyond the summer window, but his current deal is due to expire at the end of December.

That situation could make him an interesting option heading into January if Celtic decide to revisit their interest.

Speaking to Sportbladet about whether he could still move to a country where the transfer window remains open, Fallenius replied: “No, I find that hard to believe.

“I have planned to stay here until the contract expires and then we can take it from there.”

The winger also made clear that he still has ambitions beyond his current situation, although no final decision has yet been made over what comes next.

He added: “But we have a pretty big range right now, and I have ambitions.

“But I’ve been here for three and a half years now and I think I’ll get a clear feeling after the season, so we’ll see what’s best for me and Djurgarden.”

If Fallenius does leave when his deal expires, he could become available without Celtic having to pay a transfer fee, although there is currently no suggestion that talks have taken place or that an agreement is close.

Celtic spent part of the summer assessing whether to add another left-winger, and Adrian Blake was one of the wingers who was reportedly high on the Hoops’ shortlist.

By the closing stages of the window, attention had shifted elsewhere. Sam Johnstone and Jordan Lotomba were brought in on loan as Celtic concentrated on other areas of the squad.

Fallenius remained with Djurgarden, but his deal is due to expire at the end of the year. If he does move on, Celtic could have the chance to revisit a player they have previously been linked with without paying a transfer fee.
