Benjamin Nygren has opened up on the close relationship he has built with Kasper Høgh since the striker arrived at Celtic.

The pair have already shown signs of understanding each other on the pitch, and Nygren says that connection has also developed away from football.

Asked about his relationship with Høgh, the Swedish midfielder said: (Celtic FC YouTube), “He’s a great guy.

“We get on both on the pitch and off the pitch.

“His girlfriend is Swedish as well as mine, so we’ve been together.

“I really, really like him and enjoy spending time with him both on and off the pitch.”

Nygren also believes Høgh’s intelligence as a player has made it easier for them to build chemistry quickly.

He added: “I think he’s a smart player and it’s way easier to get chemistry and a relationship with good and smart players.

“I think as well with Durán and the rest of the new boys, it’s been very easy to get a good chemistry with them because they are smart, good players.”

That understanding has not happened by accident either.

Nygren revealed that he and Høgh have spoken regularly in training about the runs they want to make and the type of service they prefer.

He said: “I think always if you have a good relationship with someone, it always helps.

“Then we speak a lot on the pitch.

“As soon as he arrived, if we played with each other in small-sided games, we speak with each other about what we like, how we move and try to talk as much as possible to get to know each other and get our chemistry as good as possible.”

That understanding should only help Celtic as Nygren and Høgh get more minutes together.

Nygren has started the season strongly, while Høgh is working his way back after injury and competing with Camilo Durán for a place through the middle.

The better that understanding becomes, the more options Celtic should have in the final third.
