Paul Lambert believes Celtic can make a serious impact in Europe this season if they build on their home form and become harder to beat on the road.

Speaking to BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds, the former Celtic midfielder said: “If they can go far in the competition, it will certainly take away a little bit of the disappointment from the Champions League result. Whether it’s reaching the later stages or getting to another final, that’s why I say their home form is key.
“If they maintain that home form and tighten up a little bit away from home, they’ve certainly got a chance, it’s a really tough place to win at Parkhead, no matter who comes there.
“But if they can keep a clean sheet away, they’ve definitely got a good chance to go far.”
Celtic have produced some memorable European nights at Parkhead over the years, and Lambert believes making home advantage count will again be crucial.
The former Hoops midfielder also sees away performances as the area Celtic need to improve if they are to make a prolonged run in the competition.

Lambert, though, clearly believes there is enough quality in the squad to go beyond simply competing in the league phase.
After the frustration of missing out on the Champions League, a lengthy Europa League run would give Celtic the chance to respond on the continental stage.
Lambert has even left the door open to another European final if Celtic can make Parkhead count and become more difficult to break down away from Glasgow.
