Paul Lambert believes Celtic strengthened well during the summer transfer window despite the criticism surrounding the club’s recruitment.
The new arrivals are still settling into life in Glasgow, but Lambert has been encouraged by what he has seen so far.
Speaking to BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds, the former Celtic midfielder said: “The guys that have come in have certainly enhanced the team and the squad, that’s for sure. Albeit they still need to find their feet in Scottish football and understand what the club means and what it entails.
“There has been some really good acquisition because I know the couple of lads who have come in have done well. I think Celtic have strengthened really well in the window, despite everybody moaning, and they are in a good place domestically.
“Now, European football is when hopefully the new guys will start to realize what it’s all about.”
Celtic’s summer business attracted plenty of debate, particularly after the club missed out on several targets towards the end of the window.
Lambert, though, believes the players who did arrive have improved O’Neill’s options.
Mika Baur has already started to make an impact, scoring his first Celtic goal in Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory over St Johnstone, while Oliver Sørensen was handed his first start at McDiarmid Park.
Celtic have also made a perfect start to their Premiership campaign, winning each of their opening six league matches.
The next challenge comes at Ibrox on Sunday in the Premier Sports Cup, before attention quickly turns back towards Europe.
There is still time needed for some of the new faces to settle, but Lambert is firmly of the view that Celtic came out of the window with a stronger squad.
