Hassan’s arrival will be a major boost for Martin O’Neill, who has been looking to strengthen his options out wide throughout the summer.

The 24-year-old has been Celtic’s priority target for some time, with negotiations with Real Oviedo taking place over recent weeks.

Reports of a completed deal emerged prematurely a few weeks ago, but Celtic continued working behind the scenes to get an agreement over the line.

Eventually, he was given the green light to travel to the UK today and complete all the medical assessments.

Hassan arrives after an impressive spell at Oviedo and will provide Celtic with a natural wide option, something that was badly needed after O’Neill was forced to deploy Camilo Duran on the right wing against Dundee and Killie.

The Celtic boss admitted after the league opener that the Colombian is not naturally suited to playing out wide.

Hassan should therefore give Celtic a more natural option on the flank while also increasing competition for places in the forward line.
