Reo Hatate Makes Bright Start Despite Burnley Struggles

Reo Hatate has made a decent start to life at Burnley, even though his new side are still struggling in the Championship.

The former Celtic midfielder made his second appearance for Burnley last night as they drew 1-1 away to Wrexham.

Hatate came off the bench and played the final 12 minutes of the game.

That followed his debut against Bristol City three days earlier, when he was handed a start and set up Burnley’s goal in a 2-1 defeat.

So far, Hatate has played 75 minutes across two appearances and already has one assist.

Burnley’s overall start has been poor.

They sit 23rd in the Championship after six games and are still waiting for their first league win.

They have drawn three and lost three, scoring seven goals and conceding 13.

That makes Hatate’s early contribution stand out a bit more.

He only joined Burnley late in the window, but he has already been trusted with a start and has shown he can create chances at his new club.

His debut assist came while playing in an attacking midfield role, which is a position Celtic supporters know he can be very effective in.

Last night was a quieter outing, with Hatate introduced late as Burnley tried to get more from the game at Wrexham.

The result did little to improve Burnley’s position in the table, but Hatate is at least starting to get minutes and settle into the side.

His next challenge will be turning those early signs into regular starts as Burnley try to climb away from the bottom end of the Championship.
