Celtic Goalkeeper Target Tjark Ernst €5m ‘Done Deal’ to Feyenoord

Celtic target Tjark Ernst is reportedly on the verge of a move to Feyenoord.

The goalkeeper was wanted by the Hoops as they looked to move for a replacement for Kasper Schmeichel who was forced to retire with a shoulder injury at the end of last season.

Celtic had been warned that Eredivisie giants Feyenoord were keen on the Hertha Berlin stopper and it had been rumoured that they had triggered his €4million release clause.

We at Celts Are Here confirmed that had not been the case as recently as last week and that neither club had offered the valuation on the German stopper.

But now, as so often happens in professional football, things have changed quickly.

Sky Sports’ transfer expert Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Feyenoord now have triggered what was actually a €5m clause in the player’s contract at that a deal is all but complete.

“Only the finer details” are still to be tidied up which will see Ernst play this coming season in the Dutch top flight. Plettenberg wrote on his social media channels: “Tjark Ernst to Feyenoord – DONE DEAL.

The news will come as a blow to the Scottish champions who have had Ernst on their shortlist most of the summer. The player is represented by CN Sports who look after former winger Nicolas Kuhn and there had been hopes that a deal would perhaps be an easy one to get done.

However Feyenoord moved quicker for the custodian and are now closing in on their signing while Celtic continue to monitor other players and scout options.

Manchester United youngster Radek Vitek is one player who is reported to be an option for Celtic having spent last season on loan with Bristol City.

Dinko Horkas of Las Palmas is another but it is believed he, too, is close to joining another club this window.
