Kelechi Iheanacho’s remarkable start to life at Bursaspor continued on Sunday night, with the former Celtic striker scoring again in a 2-2 draw with Esenler Erokspor.
Iheanacho played the full 90 minutes as Bursaspor were held at home, taking his tally to nine goals from his opening seven league appearances.
The Nigerian has also registered two assists across 603 minutes in the Turkish 1. Lig, giving him 11 direct goal contributions already this season.
That works out at a goal every 67 minutes and a direct goal contribution roughly every 55 minutes.
He has since pushed those numbers even further.
Iheanacho scored twice in Bursaspor’s 2-1 away win over Manisa FK on September 7 before getting on the scoresheet once again on Sunday night against Esenler Erokspor.
It means he has now scored in all seven of his league appearances for the Turkish side.
His run began with a goal and an assist against Bodrum FK on the opening weekend, followed by goals against Iğdır FK and Karagümrük.
He then contributed a goal and an assist against Kayserispor before hitting a double in the 4-0 win over Istanbulspor.
Another brace against Manisa followed before his latest goal on Sunday night took him to nine for the campaign.
The numbers make for particularly interesting reading from a Celtic perspective.
Iheanacho left Parkhead during the summer after the club opted not to keep him, despite a strong finish to his spell in Glasgow.
There were questions at the time over whether Celtic had made the right call, particularly after Iheanacho’s productive end to the previous campaign.
His form in Turkey will only keep that debate going.
Seven matches remains a small sample, but nine goals and two assists from 603 minutes is an outstanding return.
More strikingly, Iheanacho is yet to play a league match for Bursaspor without scoring, with Sunday night extending his goalscoring run to seven consecutive games.
