Brendan Rodgers really ISN’T messing around when it comes to trimming Celtic’s oversized squad and deadwood before he starts his acquisitions.

The latest flop striker to fall by the wayside is Stefan Scepovic who today signed a 4-year-deal with Spanish side Getafe.

The 26-year-old who has only 4 league goals to his name in Scotland spent last season on-loan to Getafe and they’ve now signed him on a permanent basis after scoring 6 league goals last term.

There is thought to be a small fee involved in the transfer but Celtic have not made comment.

The Serbian is not alone as he joins a list of Celtic strikers who have been sent packing from Celtic Park since Rodgers has come in – Carlton Cole, Colin Kazim-Richards and Anthony Stokes have been part of the clear out.

The new Celtic manager has been quoted as saying he’s looking for a striker who can help Leigh Griffiths next season.

As wages get freed up it’s surely only a matter of time.
