Leigh Griffiths may not have said anything on his Instagram page today but posting a picture of him playing in the previous round suggests he’s getting ready to lead the line for Celtic in Norway.

With Moussa Dembele out till Septemeber, it will be up to Leigh, who has been carrying a slight knock to pick up the pieces and help fire Celtic to the playoff round of the Champions League.

The striker was banned for the home tie after tying a scarf to a goalpost in the North of Ireland earlier this month but will now carry the weight of Celtic fans expectations on his shoulders as the team look to get a result away in Europe.

There will be other players to pick up the slack hopefully, but all eyes will be on the Scottish striker.

When Leigh is in the mood he can do considerable damage, just ask the England team who had to rescue a draw at Hampden last month.

Celtic need to score in Norway to have any chance of going through to the playoff round of the Champions League. A lot of pessimistic fans are worried about Celtic’s away record, but they are more than capable of a score draw if the players up their game from the first leg.

  1. We need some kind of striker to lead the attack in Norway cos not one single celtic player could break Norway down last nite personally I think celtic r simply not good enough to win in Norway judging on last nights performance you always need 3 strikers just in case players get injured eg dumbell again not good.

    • Michael, your’e right about not one single player breaking down Rosenberg,Rogic,Armstrong,Forrest and particularly Sinclair, had poor games. The absence of Dembele and Griffiths obviously didn’t help.
I disagree with you on Celtic not being good enough to win in Norway, they are mor than capable,Griffiths will be fired up and eager to make up for his stupid booking which caused him to miss last nights game. Also, surely Sinclair,Rogic and Armstrong can’t play as bad as last night, all three of them have been playing well of late and have proved to be a goal threat when ever they take the field.Having not conceded an away goal is a big plus point and the tie is stlil a draw and evenly balanced,
Rosenberg, playing in front of their own fans will play a more attacking formation which Brendan will have us set up in a counter attacking formation which,as long as the team don’t put in as much as a flat performance as last night, i am confident they will win in Norway.
      HAOL HAIL

  2. This was possibly our worst result under Brendan come next week hopefully all the players from last night will know how much of the pace they were and put this tie to bed.

  3. Grasshopper9: “possibly our worst result under Brendan”? Hmm. 7-0 Barca anyone? (last September).
Since that horrendous defeat we’ve become the INVINCIBLES, and I personally LOVE Brendan’s managerial style. Long may it last. Yours in Celtic HH
