RONNY DEILA could be on course to head back to the United Kingdom after reports emerged the Norwegian has been interviewed for the Blackburn job.

Tony Mowbray’s contact wasn’t renewed by the Blackburn owners at the end of the season and treated the former Celtic manager very poorly in the end. However, it’s opened the door for a new boss and Ronny apparently fancies leaving the bright lights of New York City for Blackburn! [Football league World]

Deila won two league titles at Celtic but he was always up against it whether that be with players within his ranks or the media. Brought in as a manager who won the Norwegian league, the manager was given very little respect. Remind you of another manager coming in last summer? The ideology of Ronny and Ange Postecoglou are similar but Ange seems to have the ability to bring more people along with him than Ronny did during his spell at Celtic.

You can have the best ideas but if the players you have under your watch aren’t buying into you as a person. Brendan Rodgers stressed a lot of the things he used during his time at Celtic were already implemented by Deila when he came in and credited his predecessor for the work done behind the scenes.

Having met Ronny Deila on a number of occasions and interviewed the former Hoops gaffer. He is one of football’s good guys and we’d love to see him take a Blackburn side to the Premier League.

One thing that would be fun if Ronny does get the gig; Blackburn are due to play Celtic in Glasgow next month during pre-season.

Ronny won the MLS Cup with New York City FC last season against the odds and deserves success wherever he goes.
