We’ve been talking about Jack Hendry for some time as a player who could potential come back from his loan and get a second chance in the Hoops.

The centre-back landed in the Scotland Euro squad thanks to his exploits in Belgium. The defender has become one of the top players in the Belgian league this season and has his loan club Oostende desperate to hold onto them.

Oostende Executive President Gauthier Ganaye told RecordSport Sport back in March:“It is no secret that it is a loan with an option

“We have the option to make it permanent before the summer.

“I am very hopeful that will happen

“We are very happy with Jack and he is one of the reasons why the team has been doing so well this season.

“We have ambitions between now and the summer and then we want to strengthen again for next season and we want Jack to remain a big part of things.”

So what do we know?

Oostende have a first option clause which means they can pick Jack up for £1.75m [Daily record]

But, the player still has to agree terms with Oostende before the deal would become official.

There will also be an expiration date on the first option. The executive president did say ‘before the summer’ which would suggest the option will likely run out at the beginning of June.

We’ve had no word yet if Oostende have triggered the clause – but all signs point to them doing so.

Some have suggested Jack’s stock has risen so much in Belgium that Oostende will try and sign the player just to ship him out for triple the price.

If that was the case, I doubt Hendry would be open to that sort of deal.

Celtic are still in limbo with the players still to find out who their manager is going to be next season. Our guess is, he’s waiting to see if he has a Celtic future.
