JOZO SIMUNOVIC has told Celtic fans he’s waiting to open talks with the club over a new deal with the player entering the final 18-months of his contract.

The centre back signed for the club in 2015 and renewed his deal in 2017 shortly after he nearly joined the Italian league.

Jozo has had his ups and downs at Celtic. Injury woes and spells of good form along with some bad.

Speaking about his contract situation – Jozo seemed happy enough and claimed a meeting has been arranged with the club and his reps to look at a new deal.

“This is my last year. We’ve arranged a meeting to talk. We’ll discuss it for sure, but it’s a not a problem for me right now.” Jozo told SunSport.

“I just want to be ready to play, and we have a lot of games left, so I believe my chance will come.”

Injury problems might curtail any talks between the two parties. Celtic will be looking to protect themselves against any future long term injuries the player might have.

If they can’t come to an agreement, then it would be a no brainer to sell Jozo this summer before he leaves for nothing. Celtic spent between £4m-£5.5m on the defender back under Ronny Deila as cited by SkySport.

Should Celtic be offering the 25-year-old new terms?

  1. Jozo is not Celtic material. This has been evident for several years. His biggest appeal for me is moving him on. There are better centre backs at reasonable money. Time to off load him while theres money in his move away.
