Former Ibrox player and current Hearts midfielder Andy Halliday believes Celtic might have just unearthed a gem in Odin Holm.

The Norwegian midfielder joined Celtic in the summer and was very much a player scouted by the Celtic recruitment team with Brendan Rodgers’ blessing.

He has made a couple of sub appearances and looked relatively at ease in his surroundings. The player still has to start a match but the signs are good and his Instagram posts seem to suggest he doesn’t lack in confidence.

Speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard on Monday Night Halliday admitted he was impressed: “I think he just looks very much like a sort of European style profile of player. He almost sort of glides with the ball, the way he can swivel his hips and turn his shoulders and get away from players that way.

“For a boy his age, his technical ability is clear. I think he’s a good size as well, you can see he’s got a lot of athleticism and I think to play 100 games at 19, he’s got experience for that age bracket.

“I think you might find that Celtic might have found a gem there.”

The new Celtic signings are being eased into the team, but there are signs a couple of players could make a big impact this term.

Not just Odin, but Yang’s assist for the third goal at Pittodrie was Jota-esque.

As the Hoops get prepared to battle on four fronts this season, we do need all our squad to contribute. Having players coming through and ready to peak at the right time will be pivotal.

The bhoys in green have two wins out of two in the SPFL so far and now have Kilmarnock away in the League Cup. We wonder if Brendan will use the cup competition as a chance to bring in some of the new bhoys from the start.
