ANGE POSTECOGLOU was asked what he thought of The Rangers NOT giving Celtic a guard of honour at Ibrox after they were crowned Champions last weekend.

Michael Beale confirmed ahead of the Ibrox tie that his players would NOT be forming a line to applaud the two-in-a-row champions. [Read More]

“It’s no big deal for me. I think these things tend to be a bit symbolic rather than anything real. I think respect is shown in different ways and we don’t need a guard of honour to know that.” he told Sky Sports as cited by Football Scotland.

“I think there’s respect between the two sides, certainly between the two sets of players. It might be grudging, but they know how hard it is to be successful.

“Rangers were [successful] two years ago, we have been for the last two years. I think that respect is there and we don’t need a guard of honour for that.”

Celtic don’t need to be acknowledged by their rivals in what Ange rightfully describes as a bit more symbolic than anything else.

The Hoops have shown they are far superior to anyone domestically this season.

Ange’s bhoys could extend their lead at the top of the table to 16 points with a win at Ibrox on Saturday. They have knocked their Glasgow counterparts out of the other two competitions and there’s no denying they have been second best all season.
