ANGE POSTECOGLOU secured his second signing for Celtic on Tuesday when Benjamin Siegrist signed a four-year deal with the club.

The goalkeeper was out of contract at Dundee Utd, The Hoops picking up the talented Swiss stopper on a Free.

It’s a tidy bit of business for Celtic who beat a lot of clubs to the player’s signature.

When we heard Celtic were linked with the goalkeeper, we weren’t sure a deal would go through considering Joe Hart is currently Celtic’s number one goalkeeper. It was only last week the Bhoys handed the Englishman the number one jersey after all.

Ange is very proactive when it comes to contacting the players he’s trying to sign. Some managers will leave the chat until after a player has signed – Ange likes to get a feel for someone’s character and their ambition.

The Australian not only wants talented players in his dressing room, he also wants motivated individuals.

Speaking to the the official club website, Ange reacted to the deal: “I am really pleased to welcome Ben to Celtic and we look forward to working with him. I have had really positive discussions with him.

“I know he is hugely enthusiastic about this opportunity and also that he is someone who will add real competition to our goalkeeping position.

“We all saw last season the ability that Ben has, as time and again he delivered fantastic performances.

“He is a really talented keeper with the ambition to always work, to develop himself further and to achieve success and I think in signing Ben we have made a very important addition to our squad.”

We’ll likely see Benjamin in action during pre-season. Celtic have six friendlies before the beginning of the SPFL season.

It’ll be interesting to see how Benjamin gets on in those games, and if he can give Joe a run for his money.
