ANN BUDGE has continued her tirade against the SPFL even though she’s been asked to head up a task force on league reconstruction.
The Hearts owner is raging her club is in the firing line for the drop should the SPFL be unable to restart.
The proposal was voted through on by the overwhelming majority of clubs but Budge believes nearly everyone had a problem with the relegation side of things.
The problem with this is -— had Hearts not been bottom of the league, Budge would have more than likely voted with the SPFL.
It’s an unfortunate scenario but she has the opportunity to try and effect change and put a reconstruction proposal to clubs before the start of next season.
Instead, Budge has doubled down and has again questioned why Celtic could be named champions without playing 38 games.
“I don’t think many people had a problem with promotion, with the obvious exception – or probably exception – of Rangers.” Budge told RecordSport.
“But almost everyone had a problem with relegating clubs in the middle of what is an absolutely awful experience for all of us, globally.
“My biggest argument is let’s find the fairest way possible to address the situation.
“That means people shouldn’t be penalised. Nobody gains from relegation. Nobody gains at all. Clubs just lose, on top of everything else that they’re suffering.
“It’s clearly an impossible situation. But clearly some of the rules were changed.
“You shouldn’t be awarded a title if you haven’t played 38 games.
“You shouldn’t be relegated if you haven’t played 38 games. And all sorts of other things in between.”
The rant specifically misses the mark on what’s going on in the world and how things are unfolding. Budge would be best taking a breath and trying to move forward without this nonsense.
I’m honest, always have been. I don’t like the Budge woman, she has too much to say for someone in her position. I would love to see 38 rounds played out, but that’s not going to happen. You’ve got the dumplings at Ipox saying they WON”T play in closed stadiums. So that means we have to wait until….
and meanwhile, Budge is bumping her gums about matters. Look, your highness, you had 30 games to avoid the drop, you deserve to be relegated, your playing rubbish and your manager has taken more than he can handle. Live with it!
Meanwhile in the real world, people are dying, but budge doesn’t mention that fact. All the woman does is bitch about her and her ailing club. Add to that this hair-brained woman is now part of the decision process for league reconstruction, and she’ll be greasing palms to keep Hearts in the SPL. She’s more fiddles going that the London Philharmonic.
I can guarantee you that Budge would not want the full 38 games played this season as Hearts would most probably be relegated. This situation suits her and gets her a way out of a situation which they deserve to be in according to the results this season. There is no logic to what she is saying. She is a hypocrite and I agree with you George. She has too much to say for herself.
In Formula 1 and other racing for dunkies years . Many races were stopped short for whatever reasons and where you finished at that point that was the result .
Dont remember anyone complaining about how if they had finished the final say 8 laps they could have gained more places !
Celtic are happy to play behind closed doors {them other across the divide are not } but that still means those players and refs are all more at risk because of this .
I wonder how many Players would truly be happy playing alongside the risk of Covid etc. Would all players etc need to be screened before each match ?
If Mrs Budge doesn’t like the SPFL rule which allows them to end the season before all games have been played, why did she not propose an amendment to said rule at the last SPFL AGM?
The season started with this rule in place. Nobody changed the rules mid season. She is either pretty damn thick or is being deliberately obtuse, safe in the knowledge that none of Scotland’s sports journos would pick her up on this inconvenient fact.
Think of the players DON’T be that selfish this group of teams greeting about league positions have had 80% chance to improve their league positions this season as far as I can see the only team Hearts could take points of this season was Rangers and they weren’t scheduled to play them again . Looks like another anbody but Celtic moan Budge and the Park are simply deflecting the criticism and playing to their extremes in their support. ThE MAIN REASON FOR THEIR SITUATION IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH THE rangers threw everything at preventing 9IAR can’t get anywhere near the value for their over valued players so no new money coming in. Who would stay at hearts if they can get out hopefully no reconstruction
