After it was brought to light the BBC was banned from Brendan Rodgers’ first Celtic press conference since returning to the Parkhead hot seat, another media outlet has revealed they were also blocked from the event.

PLZ Soccer, fronted by Peter Martin, who usually does a lot of events with the club, was locked out along with the countries national broadcaster.

After the conference, PLZ took to social media to reveal they had been blocked.

Some Celtic fans are hailing this as a victory. There is no love lost when it comes to some of the media in this country.

However, why have Celtic taken until now to make a stand? And what kind of precedent does it set going forward?

If there are people from companies spreading untruths and defamatory comments, then Celtic are within their rights not to engage.

However, if it’s because someone has aired an unpopular opinion or something they don’t like, it’s not a good look.

We’ve watched our friends from across the city become the club that censures media outlets and even gets them to pay for access and we’ve rightly derided them for it.

Celtic should be careful.
