For anyone who doesn’t know Scott Bain’s history before he came to Celtic, this is a great eye opener and acknowledgement about how far he has come since starting out in the game.

Bain pulled off some spectacular saves in Mestalla on Thursday night, one of them he had to completely change the direction of his body in the last seconds to make the save. The goalkeeper kept Celtic alive in the tie for longer than we were and it’s right that the goalkeeper receives plaudits for his heroics.

Brendan Rodgers made Scott Celtic’s number one goalkeeper since the turn of the year and is yet to concede a goal domestically while not being at fault for the three which have been put by him in Europe.

In fact, he’s only conceded four goals in total in 16 appearances for the bhoys! That’s impressive.

But was he always destined for the top? AlloaStats twitter account posted a very poignant message about the Celtic goalkeeper.

From being rejected from Aberdeen to being pushed out the door by Neil McCann, you would have forgiven Bain for packing it in. However, a string of very unusual circumstances brought the player to Celtic last year, and the timing of his contract ending was perfect.

At this moment in time, Bain is now Celtic’s number one.
