Lionel Messi heaped more praise on Celtic and their fans in his latest interview where he was speaking about his Champions League exploits. The little Argentinian reminisces about his three visits to Parkhead and even talks fondly of the night Celtic humbled Barcelona on their 125th Birthday.
“The games against Celtic were special and I want to remember them.
“The performances of Fraser Forster against us were talked about for a long time. There was one game in Scotland where he was not human, it is the best goalkeeping performance I have seen.”
Lionel wants to see Celtic back among Europe’s elite next season in the group stages and hopes that there may be another chance for him and the players to take to the cauldron that is Celtic Park on a European night.
“Celtic Park is a tough place to go to, it is never easy to get a result there.
“We know we would get a tough game if we drew them in the Champions League, but everybody involved in those Barcelona v Celtic games wants to go and play there again.
“It is the best atmosphere in Europe and we all want to experience that again.”
Celtic have played Barcelona quite a lot in recent history and while there are great links between both clubs I think Celtic fans would like to see some fresher teams come to play at the famous Celtic Park. Not that we would be complaining if Messi and co were to come to town again.
Celtic fans relish these big nights and every player would love to be a part of that atmosphere.
