Former Rangers man Barry Ferguson has expressed his admiration for Celtic’s acquisition of the 24-year-old Canadian defender Alistair Johnston, considering him a remarkable find for the team.
He was recruited as a direct replacement for Josip Juranovic, the former Celtic defender who joined Union Berlin mid-way through the January transfer window.
He was given a debut at Ibrox, where he excelled and showed just how good a signing he was, with Juranovic not 100% fit to start the match.
He’s not looked back since, and has proven himself to be a vital player under Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.
Speaking on Go Radio, Barry Ferguson was Discussing Tony Ralston’s new deal when he said;
“He’s a good backup for Alistair Johnston who’s an athlete.
“Let’s be honest, he has been another real good find for Celtic.”
He played his first European match in Celtic’s opening Champions League match against Feyenoord last week, and didn’t look out of place at all.
Despite the £4 million splashed on him, he’s a steal of a player who is unsurprisingly a fan favourite.
