Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers spoke to the media on Monday afternoon. The Irishman previewed his side’s clash with St. Mirren and when doing so, made a sensational claim about winger James Forrest.

The 32-year-old came off the bench against Hibs at the weekend and rattled the bar late on. His manager has plenty of faith in him, indeed dubbing him one of the fastest players at the club.

On the eye, this would not seem to be the case but it supposedly is. Rodgers said (Glasgow Times): “I have James Forrest who is 32 but he’s our quickest winger still, we did tests last week and he’s still my quickest winger. He’s up there with Daizen Maeda, believe it or not, in terms of sheer speed.”

There must be coherent evidence showing that this is the case or else the manager of the champions wouldn’t be coming out with such claims. It may be over a short distance, but Forrest is still sharp, according to Rodgers, and will be aiming to continually contribute as the season goes on.

  1. “Shooders” as my brother and I affectionately dub Forrest is a great player. If the truth be told, I’d start him before Abada every week. Then again, I’m not a football manager, so what do I know?
