Celtic have announced their fifth signing of the January transfer window, with MK Dons midfielder Matt O’Riley officially being unveiled by the club.

It was announced on social media this evening that the 21-year old has agreed a four and a half-year deal with the Hoops.

A fee of around £1.5 million has been reported after Ange Postecoglou’s side exercised the young midfielders release clause from the English League One team, continuing to add to his squad after the early signings of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Johnny Kenny.

O’Riley signed for the Dons after leaving Championship side Fulham to pursue regular first-team football. His performances since signing had attracted interest from clubs in England and across Europe.

However, Celtic have now won the race to sign the midfielder, and he is expected to be ready for action right away, with a potential early debut opportunity this weekend in the Scottish Cup against Alloa.
