Ewan Henderson has tonight been confirmed as a Dunfermline player for the rest of the season as the midfielder joins a number of young Celts hitting the loan trail over the past week.

Celtic have been very active getting players out to grab meaningful game time in the run-up to next season. You could argue it’s a bit late in the day but it’s better late than never.

Neil Lennon didn’t utilise his young players at all and many of them were languishing at Lennoxtown playing closed door games and simply training.

Ewan is a prime example of a youngster who suffered under Neil Lennon’s first team tunnel vision. The player was starting to make the breakthrough under Brendan Rodgers when he left for Leicester, shortly after, Ewan disappeared from the first team.

Not every young player at Lennoxtown is going to be good enough to make it all the way to the first team but right now we have no way of gauging unless they get game time.

  1. Unlike most of the other young players, Ewan has been pretty impressive in his few games. Probably a good move for him to go on loan and hopefully if we ever get a new manager in, he’ll get his chance
