BRENDAN RODGERS was asked about his former Glasgow rival’s as Celtic get set to take on The Rangers for the final time this season on Sunday.
Asked if Gerrard can continue dominance in the league next season, Brendan Rodgers shut the question down.
Rodgers unwilling to go there with his ‘Celtic hat on’.
The former invincible manager who won the lot during his first season at the club did admit the Ibrox side have been the most consistent and deserved the league title.
However, the Irishman also had a wee dig saying he believes they will be sore from their cup competition showing.
Given his Celtic side went undefeated in EVERY domestic cup competition, there’s no real comparison between the two but Rodgers did give them their due.
“Listen, it would be very difficult for me to say with my Celtic hat on.”
“Rangers deserved to win the league this year, I don’t think there is any doubt about that.” Rodgers told RecordSport.
“Consistently, they have been the best team in the league, they will probably be disappointed with the Cups and how that has gone.
“The challenge for them this year was to win the league and stop Celtic winning their 10th title and they have done that.
“So Steven will look to build on that in the summer and look to progress, where they go into the Champions League which is a huge challenge.
“And he will look to continue to win trophies because that is what Celtic and Rangers are about. Celtic and Rangers are about winning and winning in the best way you possibly can.”
Asked about the derby itself, the Leicester boss says he tries to watch the game whenever he can.
“They are never the best games, at times, from a football perspective but I’ve been involved in games like that.
“Certainly from the spectacle, the supporters and everything, they are really special games.
“I always find the time, when I can, if I can watch the game I will do.”
If this Celtic team have any pride they will go all out for the win.
