Celtic midfielder David Turnbull is about to enter the final six months of his Celtic contract. He is the Scottish Premiership’s current top scorer but he is yet to put pen to paper over a new deal.

This is something that has not worried manager Brendan Rodgers in the slightest, though. He said (Daily Record): “I won’t lose sleep over it. There were talks back in the summer and I’m not sure how far they’ve gone but clearly they’ve not gone as well as David or maybe his representative have wanted.”

Although he has not played as many minutes for the Hoops as he would have liked to this campaign, Turnbull has still managed to get himself on the scoresheet seven times. It appears that Rodgers wouldn’t be significantly moved if the 24-year-old didn’t elect to extend his stay at Celtic, though.

At the minute, this seems likely although one should never say never in football. Turnbull, however, is free to speak to clubs about a pre-contract agreement in five weeks should he not put pen to paper by then.
