Brendan Rodgers has apologised to the Celtic fans after his team lost at home to Hearts on Saturday. It was a defeat few expected.

Post-match, the Irishman spoke out. He said (Daily Record): “Firstly, it’s an apology to the support. I don’t think I’ve ever had to do that in all my time here, first and this time. The performance today was nowhere the level for a Celtic player or team. We lacked any desire in our defending, lacked drive when we had the ball.”

If Rodgers has to say sorry to the fans, it is clear there are issues. He went on to state he wasn’t surprised by today’s loss: “Not (surprised) if I’m honest… I’ve seen it within the team from time to time, I’m surprised at home we produced that level of the performance, but not so when I see the first half at St Johnstone and then having to activate that at half time. Then Kilmarnock away and today.”

Things are worrying at the moment for Celtic. Rodgers not being surprised by a result such as today’s is concerning, as was the fact he had to apologise to the fans for the first time.

  1. A plea to wealthy Arabian consortiums and NFL owners…
Please by our club and take it out of the hands of the absent owner and corrupt self serving board.
Make Celtic FC a club feared by all in Europe like they were in late 60s early 70s
Hell, I will settle for gutsy and competitive like the teams of late 90s into late 2000s

We complain that our champions league competitors have such a massive financial advantage on us that we aren’t seriously expected to win.
Well then we have such a massive financial advantage over the competition in the SPFL so why are we losing drawing and just scraping victories from teams with lesser players than our youth team?
