Ultimately, it didn’t happen with the game finishing goalless, but the Irish winger did bring some energy to the left wing.

During the post-match press conference, Brendan Rodgers was asked about Mikey Johnston’s long-awaited appearance, as well as his potential for improvement in the weeks to come. Rodgers responded with his characteristic measured optimism, saying; [The Celtic Way]

“We shall see. I judge the players on what I see in training throughout the week, their application, commitment, and attitude. If we see more, then I’ll always give a player an opportunity.”

He maintains an open-door policy for those who consistently display the qualities he values. This approach means that opportunities in the team are earned through hard work and a positive attitude, and if Mikey Johnston, and others, can continue to demonstrate these attributes, he may have a promising future with the club.

For Johnston, this response offers hope and motivation as he looks to rebuild his career at Celtic after a significant period on the sidelines and away on loan.

It’s an encouraging sign that his manager is willing to provide opportunities for players who prove their worth and commitment in training.
