Celtic is approaching the final week of the January transfer window with minimal activity, having added just one player to their ranks so far.

The only signing, Nicolas Kuhn, a winger, is expected to potentially make his debut against Ross County, following manager Brendan Rodgers’ confirmation of his involvement with the squad.

Rodgers, addressing the possibility of further signings, noted the challenges of the transfer window.

He said [Celtic TV]: “Not at this moment, there’s work going on behind the scenes, of course. But yeah, listen, it’s not easy when you know you’re trying to get players in, and I’ve talked about quality before, and I always will do, because that’s the nature of what I want to build here. We have a lot of quality players in our squad currently that are improving and developing, and I want to add more to that. But when you’re trying to get quality and when you’re trying to add, it’s never easy because other clubs don’t want to lose quality players. But it’s something that, as I said, has continually been worked on, and I hope before the window shuts that we’re able to do that.”

This approach, however, has led to growing frustration among fans, especially given Rodgers’ earlier statement about aiming to bring in three or four players this month. The current situation contrasts with this initial ambition, leaving supporters anxious for more signings to strengthen the squad.

Moreover, the Celtic squad has not seen significant trimming, leading to concerns about its size and balance and money being wasted on players’ wages. This aspect further intensifies the pressure on the board and management to make strategic decisions in the remaining days of the window.

As the deadline draws near, the focus is on whether Celtic will make any additional moves to enhance the team.

  1. Whilst it’s highly likely to be yet another Lawwell failure it is possible that the right players at the right price for us are just not available right now. I’d rather the club didn’t squander money on more wage-thieving diddies just to appease uneasy fans.

  2. I think Rodgers is just saying exactly what liewell told him to say , after all he is Rodgers boss,I still don’t know why Rodgers came back to work under the same scenario that made him scarper first time round.

  3. Whilst what he says is credible (on the face of it), what the fcuk have the ‘recruitment’ team been up to since the summer window shut? Plenty of time to seek out quality in the world market and get them in on January 1st. That’s assuming of course that there actually is a recruitment team that doesn’t just consist of Lawwell senior sticking his hand up Lawwell Jnrs backside and working him like a puppet
