Brendan Rodgers has registered his delight at the signing of Gustaf Lagerbielke, after the club confirmed the move on their social channels.

CeltsAreHere brought you the story last week from the Swedish journalist who broke the story, detailing Celtic’s pursuit and what the defender can bring to the squad – Watch Here.

Now the deal is wrapped up, and a five-year contract has been signed, the big defender is ready to get down to business and Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is looking forward to working with Gustaf.

“We are really pleased to finalise the deal for Gustaf to join the club.” Rodgers told the Celtic Website.

“He is an exciting, talented young player who has great attributes and someone who I think is ready for the challenges that Celtic will bring.

“I know he is really hungry to achieve success with us. We think he will bring even more quality to our squad and we really look forward to working with him.”

Celtic have moved really quickly to replace Carl Starfelt who left the club for Spain just last week. In our discussion with Swedish journalist Anel Avdic, he told us that Starfelt’s agent had a lot to do with the move and facilitated things between Elfsborg and Celtic.

We are awaiting the verdict on CCV and if his injury on Sunday against Aberdeen will see him miss any game time; if so, Gustaf could find himself in the defence pretty quickly.
