CELTIC has announced that last season’s B Team manager Tommy McIntyre has left the club to ‘pursue new opportunities’.

It comes after Celtic shook up their coaching staff, with Daren O’Dea and Stephen McManus taking up the responsibility from the start of the season. It seems as if Tommy was replaced and was left without a role at the club.

Celtic B performed relatively well in their first season in the Lowland League, which was Tommy’s twelfth year at Celtic after joining the club in 2009 as Head of the Academy.

He leaves with the club’s best wishes.

Speaking about his exit, Tommy:

“It’s been a real honour and I have been immensely proud to serve Celtic Football Club and its supporters for the last 13 years.

“To all the managers, coaches, staff, and players that I have had the privilege to work with, my sincere thanks to each and every one of them. I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the Club for so many memorable years.

“I’m extremely proud of the many successes and fantastic memories over the years, and having played a part in creating a pathway for a thriving Academy which has seen the development of so many talented players.

“Finally, to the fans for supporting myself and the many young players coming through throughout my tenure. Such support is always greatly appreciated but never taken for granted.”

Postecoglou’s Celtic Constantly Evolving

The Celtic manager is always tinkering away, trying to keep the club going forward. Tommy’s exit won’t affect this too much, with coaching staff already in place to take over his responsibilities.

It’s a big season for the B team, trying to improve on last year’s finish with added competition.

The Lowland League is great for the young Bhoys, allowing them to face grown men and develop themselves physically.
