A Celtic B side will enter the Scottish Lowland next season and we now have the fixtures available to see how things look for the young Celts.

The Hoops will kick off their historic campaign against Bonnyrigg Rose on July 17 the SLFL has announced.

We also now know Celtic will be playing their games at the Penny Cars Stadium, Airdrie’s home ground.

The idea of Celtic colts playing in the lower leagues of Scottish football has been touted for decades, Jock Stein was one of the first men to ask for the club to get into the system that would help develop their younger players.

It’s always met great resistance, and it again came up against a lot of critics when the club tried to enter League 2. The Lowland league have welcomed Celtic and their Glasgow rivals to the competition with strict rules in place.

It’s a one-off agreement at the moment but if fans are allowed back into the stands, you can be sure Celtic fans paying at the gate to watch these games could see the league owners want to keep them around.
