It was announced first by Argentine side Lanus and now Celtic have made their own official announcement on the signing of Alexandro Bernabei.

The defender had been linked with the Hoops for the past month, it was last week Alexandro said his goodbyes in his home country and made the trip to Glasgow.

We did expect an announcement sooner, but better late than never.

As the club revealed on social media, the 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Scottish Champions.

Bernabei makes history as Celtic’s first ever Argentine Celtic player. The defender is coming in to be direct competition for Greg Taylor.

So far this summer, Celtic have made Daizen Mazda and Cameron Carter-Vickers loan deals permanent and signed Benjamin Siegrist on a free. Alexandro comes in as the fourth permanent summer signing with no signs the Hoops are ready to stop.

Christopher Jullien is in Germany putting the finishing touches on a loan move to the Bundesliga. Once that deal is over the line, the Hoops will move for another centre-back.[MailSport]
