CELTIC have been credited with an interest in Derby left-back Lee Buchanan on deadline day.

RecordSport claim Celtic are keeping a close eye on the situation and could move for Lee if the conditions are right.

Derby is in a bad financial state at the moment but the manager, Wayne Rooney has claimed none of his players will be leaving on deadline day.

While that sentiment will give long-suffering Derby fans a bit of hope, the club and Wayne don’t really have as much control as they’d like over the outcome of Lee’s future.

The 20-year-old is in the final six months of his contract at the English club. Derby has an option of a year’s extension but simply can’t trigger it due to the financial constraints they’re working under.

If Celtic and Lee can come to an agreement on deadline day, the Hoops could look to offer a nominal fee to Derby. If not, they could sign the player on a pre-contract and bring him in this summer.

Celtic are not gung ho about any transfers as it stands right now, but things can change.
