Toni Kroos and his Real Madrid side managed to navigate the atmosphere and Celtic’s first half performance to ultimately win the game on Matchday one of the Champions League.

The European Champions didn’t get things their own way and had to overcome a Celtic side who were not shirking from the challenge in front of them.

The fans were incredible as always. Even after the bhoys went 1-0 down. By the time it got to 3-0 and Real had really turned on the style, the fans were on their feet chanting the manager’s name.

After the game, Luka Modric was the first to come out and praise the atmosphere. Toni Kroos felt compelled to join his teammate by branding the Celtic support ‘special’.

While Celtic didn’t get a positive result, there’s a feeling the bhoys are heading in the right direction. Ange and his team played their game as much as they could and were unlucky not to score first on the night.

It’s nice to hear top players praise the support, we want to get back to the point where they’re praising our support and leaving with no points. With Ange at the helm, I don’t think it’s as far away as it once was.

  1. Do you think they would be as gracious in defeat as they are in victory? Some how I don’t think so. They treat it like a day out. A bucket list item. Celtic Park atmosphere, big tick. And 3 points. Thank you. Time we started telling them to stick their praise.
