Celtic star’s James Forrest and Kieran Tierney have experienced it all at the Hoops, so it was especially poignant that they both helped guide the club to their first win under new boss Wilfried Nancy.

When 10-man Aberdeen equalised, it seemed like it was going to be another missed opportunity despite Nancy’s side dominating play. But Tierney appeared in the box in the 88th minute to turn fortunes around and allow Celtic Park to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Substitute Forrest finished off a well-rounded move to convert for Celtic’s third goal and cement the three points, ending their four-match losing streak. His goal means he has now scored in 17 consecutive seasons for the club.

The pair gave an honest assessment of the match and what it means to the players.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Tierney said:

“We kept going, we knew eventually one would go in. Been disappointing the last few games, so to get a win and create so many chances is a positive for sure.”

Forrest echoed his teammates’ words and reflected on his long career in Glasgow:

“To play at this club for such a long time has been unbelievable, I’ve enjoyed every minute. Hopefully we can kick on from here.”

It was a crucial win that maintains pressure on league leaders Hearts as there remains a six-point gap at the top, with Nancy’s side also having a game in hand.

The players have a few days to recharge before facing a trip to face bottom-side Livingston on December 27.

This win must signal the beginning of an upturn in form as the Hoops look to kick on for the rest of the season.
