Celtic are reportedly set to make one final push for Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis as the clock ticks down on the Europa League squad deadline.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà reports on X that Celtic will make a final offer for the Lithuanian international, with the deal still open but not straightforward.

The 22-year-old has been on Celtic’s radar for much of the window, with the club doing groundwork on a deal while also assessing movement in the middle of the park.

CeltsAreHere reported earlier this week that Torino were looking for around €10million to sell Gineitis, after a €7million bid was rejected. No second bid had been lodged at that stage, but Celtic knew the asking price and personal terms were not expected to be an issue on the player’s side.

Wages are understood to have been agreed with the player’s camp some time ago, with a four-year contract in place if Celtic can strike a deal with Torino.

That means Celtic would need to get to around €10million to meet Torino’s asking price. However, the Hoops could still try to bridge the valuation gap by adding bonuses or add-ons into the structure of the deal.

Reports have since suggested talks have progressed well and are now at an advanced stage, with Gineitis said to be keen on a move to Glasgow.

Torino’s position has been clear throughout the summer. They value the player highly and are not looking to let him leave cheaply. The Serie A club have already knocked back Celtic’s opening offer and want the guaranteed part of the deal improved.

Pedullà’s update suggests Celtic are now ready to test that resolve again.

The timing is tight. The Europa League squad deadline closes in the coming hours, meaning there is little room left for drawn-out talks or another round of delays.

There is no option-to-buy structure involved here. If Celtic want Gineitis, they will need to agree a permanent deal with Torino.

The next move now looks set to come from Celtic. If they get close enough to Torino’s valuation, either through a higher fixed fee or a package with add-ons, this one could still move quickly before the deadline.
