Celtic Told Gvidas Gineitis Price After Bid Rejected

Celtic are close to agreeing a deal for Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, but the Hoops will still have to meet the Italian club’s asking price to get the move done.

Reports have suggested talks have progressed well and are now at an advanced stage, with the 22-year-old said to be keen on a move to Glasgow.

CeltsAreHere understands from sources at Torino that a €7million bid has been rejected for the Lithuanian international, with Torino looking for around €10million to sell.

That means Celtic still have work to do if they want to land their prime central midfield target this summer.

There is no sell-on involved in the deal. If Celtic want Gineitis, they will have to pay the fee and sign him permanently.

The midfielder has been on Celtic’s radar for much of the window, with the club doing groundwork on a deal while also assessing movement in the middle of the park.

Gineitis has been viewed as a serious option for Celtic, and the latest reports suggest the player is open to making the move to Scotland.

Torino’s position has been clear throughout the summer. They value the player highly and are not looking to let him leave cheaply.

A €7million offer being knocked back shows there is still a gap between the clubs, but the fact talks are now being described as advanced suggests Celtic remain firmly in the race.

The next step is simple. If Celtic want Gineitis, they may have to get closer to Torino’s €10million valuation.
