Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek has confirmed he is ready to leave Old Trafford in search of regular first-team football, amid reported interest from Celtic.

The 22-year-old has admitted there are “a few” clubs pursuing his signature as he weighs up the next step in his career ahead of the new season.

CeltsAreHere understands Celtic are actively looking to add another goalkeeper this summer to provide genuine competition for Vini Sinisalo, with Vitek reportedly among the names linked with the Scottish champions. However, the Hoops could need to fork out a fee of up to £10 million. 

Speaking about his future, the Czech goalkeeper made it clear that playing every week is now his priority.

“I’m ready to go somewhere again and hopefully be number one. There have been a few interests on the table.

“We’re hoping to choose the best one and hopefully it will happen soon.

“My mind is the same.

“I want to play every week and that’s the goal for next season.” [Glasgow Times]

Those comments are likely to alert clubs across Europe looking for a young goalkeeper capable of pushing into the starting XI.

Vitek joined Manchester United in 2020 and is still waiting to make his senior debut for the Premier League club.

Instead, the former Czech Republic Under-20 international has gained experience through loan spells at Accrington Stanley, Austrian side FC Blau-Weiss Linz and, most recently, Bristol City.

Although Sinisalo established himself as Celtic’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, the Hoops are keen to strengthen their options between the posts.

Whether Vitek is the player Celtic ultimately move for remains to be seen, but his latest comments suggest a transfer is now only a matter of finding the right destination.

With the goalkeeper confirming interest is already on the table, his future appears likely to be resolved sooner rather than later as Celtic continue their search for reinforcements ahead of the new campaign.
