Silas Andersen has committed his future to Swedish side BK Häcken, with the midfielder signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2029. The deal arrives after months of transfer speculation that had linked the 21-year-old with clubs across Europe, including Celtic.

Andersen has built his reputation quickly since arriving in Sweden. The midfielder joined Häcken from FC Utrecht in early 2025 after spending time in Inter Milan’s youth system. Regular minutes in the Allsvenskan have helped him develop into a dependable presence in midfield, while appearances in European competition have further raised his profile.

That progress began to attract interest during the January transfer window. Celtic were among the clubs credited with keeping an eye on the player as scouts across the continent monitored his development. The Hoops have often targeted young talent from smaller European leagues, particularly players who can grow after arriving in Glasgow.

The strongest approach came from the other side of the city. Reports in Sweden suggested Rangers submitted a £3.5 million offer late in the winter window. Häcken rejected that bid, with the club believed to value Andersen closer to the £6 million mark.

From Celtic’s side, the links never moved beyond interest. Andersen fits the type of young midfielder the club often monitor, but no firm approach was reported during the January window.
