Simon Jordan believes even a league title will not quiet the unrest around Celtic’s boardroom.

The former Crystal Palace owner was asked whether winning the Premiership would ease tensions between supporters and the hierarchy. His view was blunt. Success on the pitch might buy time, but it will not erase what has already happened.

Much of the anger traces back to the club’s AGM and the speech delivered by Ross Desmond. The fallout from that meeting has lingered. Results have steadied at times, but frustration has not disappeared.

Jordan argued that the tone set that day shifted the mood. In his eyes, it did not calm the situation. It hardened it.

He said: (talkSPORT), “Well, it will pacify them for the moment they’ve won the league, but it will not dampen their ardour for the dislike.

“It’s seeded them now. And they’ve been given oxygen. So they’ve gotten braver and stronger in their opinions.

“And now they’re going beyond the pale of saying certain things and pushing the envelope a little bit too far. But that was up to the Celtic board. And they didn’t help themselves.

“They haven’t helped themselves in some of their communications. It was a ridiculous shareholder meeting that they shouldn’t have had the son of Dermot Desmond wagging his finger and lecturing people.

“I understand he doesn’t want to do it, but you’re in a position of authority and influence and control. What you want to do and what you should do are two different things.”

Celtic remain locked in a tight title race. Wins over rivals can shift mood quickly. The fightback at Ibrox showed there is still belief in the dressing room.

But boardroom issues do not vanish with a trophy lift. Recruitment decisions, communication and leadership style all feed into how supporters feel. When those areas are questioned, results alone do not close the debate.

Jordan’s comments reiterate that point. Even if Celtic get over the line this season, the relationship between sections of the support and the board will need more than trophies to repair.
