Celtic have been fined €7000 by UEFA after the home leg of their Europa League tie against Jablonec. [Record Sport]
The fine pertains to flares being set off and a fan invading the pitch during the game.
This was the first proper game back with near enough a full house and supporters were certainly excited to be back.
The club have been fined many times before for fireworks or flares going off in stadiums. It’s a nominal fee but they do all add up.
UEFA don’t mess about and are quick to punish things like this. Sometimes there slower at dealing with more serious issues.
The fan getting into the pitch and being tackled by stewards earned the supporter jeers from the crowd.
The team won on the night and progressed to the playoffs against Alkmaar. The game is sitting at 2-0 to the Hoops ahead of the return leg in Holland.
The fan who ran onto the pitch should be named and shamed.
Then ban them.

He is currently banned from my house, garden and surrounding environs.
I hope others do the same.
Do UEFA fine Italian clubs if their supporter’s have used flares? Ot Turkish fans? Or say fans from Poland or Greece. Or is it just Celtic that gets fined?

Good point and one I hadn’t really given any consideration to.
Would be interesting if one of the blogs could research it and publish the findings. If Celtic are being disproportionately targeted there may be no redress available but it would certainly be useful to know and could provide leverage in changing mindset amongst fan base.
