CELTIC have tonight claimed they will now seek guidance from the Scottish government about Ryan Christie after the test and trace procedure demand he self isolate for 14 days.
The midfielder has been in close proximity to former Celtic star Stuart Armstong in the Scotland Camp and Stuart has contracted the virus.
Ryan has been told to self isolate for 14 days starting now but the club are now looking into what can be done – if anything – if the player continues to test negative for the virus in the next ten days.
Footballers are in a different bubble from the rest of us but there’s not a precedent yet for a footballer being able to come out of isolation before a 14 day period if they have been in contact with someone who has the virus.
Celtic have a massive game coming up a week on Saturday and Ryan would certainly be a starter in that game.
Ryan has broken his silence tonight on the Celtic website:
Ryan said: “I am so disappointed by the events of today and the potential effects this could have on my country and club. As I have operated within these protocols for such a long time now, I am well aware of all the rules and social distancing from team mates has become the norm and something I have observed.
“The situation is very frustrating, particularly as I don’t believe I have done anything wrong.”
This is keeping in line with what Kieran Tierney and Arsenal have now done in the wake of the player also being told to self isolate for 14 days,
