Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his official Facebook page that talks between Carl Starfelt and Celtic are no longer progressing. He wrote that this is due to the uncertainty of Kris Ajer’s future.

Fab also reveals Celtic had submitted an offer of €5m to Rubin Kazan for the Swedish international’s services.

This comes after reports have stated that Celtic turned down an offer of a fee up to £15 million for Ajer, newly promoted side Brentford were behind the offer.

It is extremely frustrating for supporters, with Ajer in that final 12 months of his deal the club seems to hold too high a valuation, especially with the player openly admitted he wishes to part ways with the club.

A team must be submitted this week for the Champions League Qualifier on the 20th of July, and as things stand Celtic faces fielding a defence that lacks quality and experience. Jullien is still sidelined with injury and Ajer has missed all of the the pre-season friendlies so far.
