Journalist Mark Hendry who is usually good for a Celtic transfer scoop or two during the window has delivered a Thursday evening update on Celtic’s transfer state of play.

The football writer discredited any rumour that Celtic could be looking to bring in Man Utd flop Donny van de Beek to the club. Hardly surprising.

However, while Hendry didn’t give any names, he appears to have been briefed that Celtic are looking to go big this summer – it’s a matter of when and not if.

He wrote: Informed there’s never been any contact between Celtic and Donny van de Beek’s reps.

Not a surprise considering his price tag and wage expectations. GK and winger wanted this summer.

Do believe #CelticFC will spend big, though.

Brendan Rodgers has been promised there is no ceiling in place with regards to the structure of a deal. If the club can afford it with the budget he’s been promised, the Irishman will be allowed to splash the cash.

The last time Brendan took the role, there were so many caveats in place to bring in a player of high value. This has been taken away and the Hoops gaffer won’t hesitate if the right move comes along.

Celtic are set to head to Japan next week to take on Osaka and Yokohama before heading to Dublin where we play Wolves in the Avila stadium.
