Inverness Caledonian Thistle will be supported by a significantly smaller crowd than anticipated at the upcoming Scottish Cup final against Celtic according to SunSport. The club has reportedly returned almost 2,000 tickets to the Scottish Football Association due to slower than expected sales.

Despite the high stakes of the match, with Inverness facing off against Treble-chasing Celtic, the club has struggled to sell tickets. It’s understood that the club’s chiefs have been forced to hand back a substantial number of briefs to the SFA due to sluggish sales. These tickets are now expected to be redistributed to Celtic supporters.

The match, which kicks off at 5:30pm on Saturday evening, is a significant one for both teams. Celtic are aiming for a world record eighth treble in their history, while Inverness, considered massive outsiders, are hoping to pull off a surprise victory.

However, despite the importance of the match, Inverness has found it challenging to move tickets. Even with fans being allowed to purchase up to six tickets per person, the uptake has been disappointingly low.

The reasons behind this sluggish ticket sales are unclear. It could be due to a variety of factors, including the timing of the game, the strength of the opposition, and the cost of travel from the Highlands.

As the final approaches, all eyes will be on the pitch, with both teams eager to make their mark. Despite the ticketing setback, Inverness will be hoping to put on a strong performance, the massive Celtic fan base that will likely tip past the 40k mark will be hoping to witness a Celtic treble.
